&lt;p&gt;Apps developed through this program include AccessNote by the American Foundation for the Blind, BrailleTouch by BrailleTech, LLC, and Sprint ID Accessibility Packs, Currency Identifier, and IDEAL Group Reader by Apps4Android.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Proposals for 2014-15 are &lt;strong&gt;due on June 30, 2014&lt;/strong&gt;.  Selection of proposals for funding will be on October 15. More information can be found in the PDF of the Call for Proposals below.&lt;/p&gt;

In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the DAC will provide policy guidance to the FCC and assist in educating the public on disability-related matters, facilitating the participation of consumers with disabilities. Author of the currently used closed captioning protocol, CEA will contribute to DAC recommendations concerning the accessibility of closed captioning and video description, access to televised emergency information, and other related issues.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;CEA vice president of regulatory affairs Julie Kearney stated, “As the leading technology trade association representing over 2,000 consumer electronics companies, we are dedicated to ensuring that innovative technologies and services are accessible to people with disabilities. &lt;p&gt;Proposals for SDS Atlanta 2015 are due Monday, December 8, 2014. Participants will be notified of the status of their proposal by February 15, 2015. The conference themes are as follow: ADA Legacy, Communities / Identities, Critical Design &amp;amp; Technology Studies, Power and Privilege, Professional Development, and Translational Research in Health Sciences and Disability Studies. Each theme will have 3 to 4 related events, varying in format (complete panels, individual presentation, topical discussion, workshop, poster, etc.).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan stated, &quot;These investments are significant in assisting individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential.&quot; By promoting inclusion and accessibility, OSERS aims to increase opportunity and self-sufficiency to improve the quality of life for members of the disability community.&quot; Some of the grantees include:&lt;/p&gt;

		WestED with $8.7 million to create a Center for Systemic Improvement (CSI)— the largest technical assistance investment ever funded by OSERS;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
		The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with $2.5 million for research to improve the transition to postsecondary education and employment for students with disabilities; and&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
		Gallaudet University with $950 thousand in funding to improve accessibility, usability, and Performance of Technology for Individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.&lt;/li&gt;
