New Site to Help People with Disabilities Select Insurance Plans

December 2013 —The American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) announced the launch of the National Disability Navigator Resource Collaborative (NDNRC) website. The new site, which is co-sponsored by seven national disability organizations, will serve as a resource for Navigators as they aid people with disabilities who enroll in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act Marketplaces. Currently, an estimated 3.5 million people with pre-existing conditions or disabilities do not have health insurance. As new insurance options arise, the NDNRC site works to ensure that people with disabilities have accurate information to select the plan that is best for each individual. The site currently provides general information for Navigators, yet in the coming months the site will also provide fact sheets concerning “specific disability related issues and State specific information as well.”For more information please visit http://www.nationaldisabilitynavigator.org/.
