Vitro is an eyeglass-based unobtrusive wireless system for controlling both an electric wheelchair and home appliances for a person with limitations due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). By combining eye tracking software with a forward mounted infrared signal, the user can connect with home appliances in the same way that a remote control communicates with a television. Looking at an appliance enables the user to interface wirelessly with any appliance or electronic device that has an IR sensor installed.
