FCC Revises Rules for Captioned Telephone Service

August 2013 — The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) in the Matter of Misuse of Internet Protocol (IP) Captioned Telephone Service and Telecommunications Relay Services and Speech-to-Speech Services for Individuals with Hearing and Speech Disabilities [CG Docket No. 13-24 and 03-123].

Online Accessibility Summit

Environments for Humans will host the 4th Annual Accessibility Summit from September 10 – 11, 2013. This online conference will bring together “some of the Web’s most notable experts” to discuss web accessibility, including the accessibility of Java Script, CSS, keyboard interactions, and accessibility on mobile browsers.

FCC Extends Comment Deadline: Rulemaking on Closed Captioning of Internet Protocol-Delivered Video Programming

August 2013 — The FCC released an Order in the Matter of Closed Captioning of Internet Protocol-Delivered Video Programming: Implementation of the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 [MB Docket No. 11-154].

Wireless Use Survey

The purpose of this survey is to learn how young people (age 13-25) use wireless technology, and how this technology impacts their lives. The survey mainly focuses on cellphones, but also includes questions about other types of devices like tablet computers such as Apple's iPad, Amazon's Kindle Fire and other similar devices.

August 15, 2013 - Access to mobile communications might have become a lot easier for the almost one in five people who live with a disability with the launch of a new service to help identify which smartphones and tablets provide the critical features they need to communicate.
