Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities Community Teleconference

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) National Teleconference will be held on January 28, 2014 at 1 pm.  The teleconference will provide an opportunity to continue the effort in developing a national strategy to advocate for the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights for Persons with Disabilities.  Those interested in participating in the call are asked to RSVP at http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/1251256/RSVP-for-USICD-DREDF-CRPD-Community-Teleconference.

Save the Date: 2014 Disability Policy Seminar

The 2014 Disability Seminar will be held in Washington, D.C. on April 7 – 9.  The Seminar will offer individuals a chance to hear from “leading public policy experts, disability advocates and Congressional staff” as they discuss key topics relating to the disability community including Medicaid, Employment, Education, and Health Care. 2013 Compendium on Disability Statistics Released

December 2013 — The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) announced the release of the 2013 Compendium of Disability Statistics, a web-based tool that pools disability statistics published by various federal agencies.  The Compendium is meant to serve as a tool for researchers and policy makers by providing accessible data to help support “decisions related to policy improvements, program administration, service delivery, protection of civil rights and major life activities.”  Findings from the 2013 Compendium highlight that the employment gap between people with and witho

North Georgia Digital Economy Conference

The Georgia Technology Authority will host the North Georgia Digital Economy Conference on December 12, 2013 at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center in Cumming, Georgia.  During this interactive conference, “technology pros, business innovators, online educators,” and students will have the opportunity to discuss “the ways people can collaborate to benefit from Internet-age economic development, education, health care, and community innovation.” The conference will also address digital education, workforce development, and the future of broadband in Georgia.
